Nancy Mendez

Nancy was born in Yuma, Arizona, daughter of a then-Marine stationed on the base close to town. As a military child, she had the pleasure of spending her first few years in Europe until finally returning to the United States at age 5.

When Nancy's father decided he wanted to be an attorney, the family moved to Moscow, Idaho where her own interest in the law was piqued. Living in Idaho, Nancy also learned to love the outdoors and fondly remembers fishing with her father after school. Her family eventually settled in Southern California where the majority of her family continues to live.

At the University of California Santa Cruz, Nancy studied political theory and literature with an emphasis on 16th Century Spanish literature—a genre hardly ever read! After graduating, Nancy applied to law schools outside of California, hoping to get back to the great outdoors.

Nancy graduated from Seattle University School of Law in Seattle, Washington, where she focused on American Indian law and criminal law. While Washington State will always have a special place in Nancy’s heart, she fell in love with Cody on a visit to Yellowstone. She is thrilled now to return to Cody as a resident and plans to bring her courtroom experience and writing skills to Bonner Law Firm and Yellowstone Mediation, zealously advocating for her clients.

In her free time, Nancy enjoys exploring the open road in her Jeep Wrangler, backcountry camping and fulfilling her goal of visiting all the National Parks of the United States. She enjoys cooking and is working to become an expert in traditional Latin-American cuisine. When Nancy finally retires – a long time from now! – she hopes to dedicate the rest of her life to writing stories about her traveling experiences and adventures.
